that price seems awfully steep
especially for something that has sat for 15 years

the 2.2 motors are the least valued of all motors.
it has mfi, which certainly adds some value.
but for that kind of money, you could actually buy something rebuilt or at least a bigger bore motor with a known history.

unless your looking for a numbers matching 911E with MFI, I'd pass

Also there are other signs that look odd. Spark plug wires are out/not connected. No fan pulley and belt.

Muffler is either new or spray painted silver. I am guessing painted.

They are little things but its almost a sure sign of other bad things.

I think a 2.2E would be an awesome motor but, I tend to agree with the price and the fact that it sat for 15 years. I would feel blessed if it even turned over.

Basic fact: The entire motor needs to be torn down.

Is that a 914-6 oil cooler on there?

I don't think it's been sitting for 15 years, I think he meant it Sat at one time for 15 years and that is why it is a low mile engine.

It still seems a bit on the high side for a 2.2

I thought the 2.7 motors are the least desirable?

its a close call.
I'd love to have a 2.2 mfi motor myself

but as far as parts values go, the 2.7L crank and rods are worth 3-5hundred in good shape, and the 2.7 case is a better parts case.

if your actually parting the motor out then the core 2.7 has a bit more value.
but either motor in core condition can be found for 1000-1500
a used running non rebuilt 2.2E with MFI and no rebuild documentation ought to bring around 2.5K - 3K
just not the nearly 5K that guy is asking!

for 5K it should be possible to find a rebuilt motor of larger displacement or even a 3.0 with known mileage and a leakdown test.

just my 2 cents.
certainly the pro's out there may have different opinions.
(I've been looking for a 2.2 - 2.4 to rebuild myself)

That is a 6 cooler, painted exhaust, 911 exhaust RUN AWAY! Some one threw that together for show

thanks everyone. I guess I will have to wait for a better engine. What should I expect to pay for a 3.0?
