White House in a show of strength and muscle,but with family picnics where kids throw frisbees,the potato salad gets iffy,and the flies die from happiness.

Every Memorial day & 4th of July I always think of this picture. My dad was a WWII vet. We always had a big party of the 4th. That was the ONLY time dad would talk about the three years he spent fighting in the war.

Thank you for this thread. Sadly there is something missing i.e., response buy more than 7000 914 World subscribers to the uniqueness of America's birthday, unique in all the world.

My service; two wars, Vietnam and Gulf War merit little response from today's slackers. We're in a tight spot today that few Americans even come close to understanding. We are well into WWIII and it wasn't G.W. Bush that got us there. That came about long before he got into position (I am no great fan of GW Bush). It is the uninformed, whose failure to understand the threat, that got us where we are, and they they fiddled on. Be that as it may, and many will disagree, but realize we are well into WWIII. Appease them as some wish, but they are coming to kill them, regardless of their appeasement stance. Useful idiots comes to mind.

We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do.
