Are all the heat exchangers interchangeable, and just the periphereal components differ for engine sizes and different years?

one size fits all (4 cylinder engines), but mufflers and hangers need to be matched for the different displacements
IE: A 1.8/1.7 Heat Exchanger won't fit a 2.0 muffler and vice versa
Heat tubing (and just about everything else) is different for 75 and 76, but the heat exchangers can be placed on any 4 cyl engine (not that anyone would)
