okayman
Hi,

I got this information about a silver/black 914-6 in SF. No pics yet.
Anyone here who can look at the car? The car is in the San Francisco area.
I am willing to buy that one, if everything is okay.

Colors: Silver and black
The car has not been restored
I have records
It has the original engine and transmission
This is an original 6, not a conversion
NO RUST, always in a dry climate
The car is almost completely as delivered with a few small tweaks to make it more drivable:
Side shift transmission linkage (much more positive)
15 x 6 Fuchs wheels
Webers rejetted from California to European spec
MSD CD box
The engine is super smooth.
This is a really excellent original car.

Please let me know.

Thanks
Oliver

Andy:

Apparently Tom is just the second owner of this car. It sounds super clean. Do you know if it still has the original paint or has it been repainted the original color.

yes, second owner if you discount the broker ...

the outside has been resprayed with the original color and they did a pretty good job at that. no overspray i could find ...

the inside, trunks, door jambs etc. are still the original paint.

I reverse numbers and letters my whole life.
I was driving in my car and I thought the full was empty. As I was filling it with gas my brain saw it as the tank gage was moving the wrong way. No lye. Dyslectic. As I was filling it up with gas I was thinking the gas was going the wrong way. You kids stay away from drugs. When you get in your mid 50s it will come back to get you.

I did the wiring today and Tom will drop the car off at the end of the next week. The car will hopefully arrive at the end of August... waiting can be so cruel...

sounds good beerchug.gif

unfortunately you're about 450 miles up in the north idea.gif

the reason why I was asking about the import thing is that I'm thinking about the irish green /6 - maybe we could share a container and save costs ...
but this one is located in VA - that's on the opposite site of the States huh.gif

The irish green is veeeeery nice, too. But as I remember the engine doesn't match. Am I right?

If you plan to fly there and drive the green across the country I will wait another two weeks.

The shipper is www.interfracht.de. They made a good job with the blue one last year.

Gustl, I am in Italy/Toscana from 01. to 15. of September... if you find a way to come around... you are welcome!
KaptKaos
Very nice car.

When was it converted to side shift?
okayman
The did it in 1990, when the car was resprayed and overhault. The second owner bought it in 2000.

Absolutely gorgeous ... I assume that rear bumper, even though it is the later 'roundy' type, is the original bumper ???

Again, absolutely gorgeous ... I'm turning green already !!!

Had my silver 6 for 21 years ... I miss it !!!

Enjoy ...

supposedly original to the car.

i'm not sure when the cutoff date was for the early style bumpers ...

I would be interested to know the cutoff date as well - my 9141430382 has a "roundy" rear bumper.
Porsche Rescue
I think all '71's had the later bumper. I know my '71 four did. Calling the early bumper the "six bumper" is a misnomer as all '70's had the "square bumper" and I " think" all '71's had the rounded one.

anybody here got a educated guess on the exact cutoff date?

some paper tells us, that the general change was with the beginning of MY'71
but there still is this talk about the square box rear bumpers that were mounted on all the 914-6, because there were much of them left at the end of MY'70
no proof !!

The Restorer's Guide reads "The chrome version used in 1970 had a slightly larger plate area and can be differentiated from later versions by its sharper, angular bends around the plate access."

They may have changed it in 08/1970 for the new model year 1971.
I am out... the round one one fits to the silver. So god will. drooley.gif
