Ok, I got this welder today from my landlord, it used to belong to my grandpa and my landlord doesn't weld. I needed an Arc welder so it is now mine. This thing is probably from the turn of the century if I know grandpa. I figure I will clean it up a little and use it. The problem I have is it is 220 which is not really a problem as my compressor is also 220.

The plug on it is different however and won't plug in, so my question is what or how do I resolve this little predicament? Any suggestions are welcome.

Put a new plug on it that matches the configuration of the outlet.

The male plug and the female receptacle have differant amp ratings.

For instance: Thats what keeps ya from plugging a 40 amp draw piece of equipment into a 30 amp circuit. And heating up the wires and popping a breaker.... There is a reason to the madness........

That welder will draw some serious amps so you need it wired with some good heavy wire and heavy plug. This machine is great for heavy stuff but is also GREAT for a scratch start air cooled tig set up which you can get for about $200. Then, there is no limit to your madness!

Problem solved... the neighbor has a gas powered stick welder.
Scott is gunna borrow it. That saves from buying 30 feet of 8 gauge. A 50 amp breaker, a 50 amp receptacle, and keeps me from getting my hands dirty....!!!!!

No welding on the car, I needed to do some welding on the rotisserie. This gas powered one is really loud so I will have to wait till tomorrow to do any more. Looks like I may be working tomorrow so it may have to wait till Monday. Either way, I will have my car able to rotate by next weekend. Then I can make some really good progress.

Lincoln has been making this buzz box for a lot of years, and I think it remains unchanged today. I bought that same welder about 25 years ago. Yup, good old buzz box.
