I tried to install the con. rods on the crank today and they will not spin.

rods are std. size

crank polished and std.

when the bearing is installed in the rod, I noticed the edge sticks above the matin surface on the rod and the cap a little.

Bearings, I think are std.

What is the micrometer measurement of the crank rod journal.
What is the Micrometer measurment of the rod bearing when torqued down.
the difference is your bearing oil clearance.

thank's Joe, I am going to have to wait till tomorrow to get those measurments. I don't have a Mic. here.

I just checked the main bearings on the carnk and it spins freely whem installed in the case half.

I think I have oversize rod bearings.

I checked a different set of bearings to see if they might be different, the same thing happened.

I am noticed, there is a shiny spot on the bearing suface where the two halfs join.

I too the two bearing halfs and wrapped them around the jurnal w/o the crank and they mated up fine.

also, I noticed, on the back of the bearing there is a 025 on the back.

That 025 means 1/4mm. They are the wrong bearings for std/std.
They should say something like 0.00/0.00 or std/std.

Yep! I did a little research and found that there are the wrong bearing.

Now when you get the right bearings it is still a good idea to ensure you have the desired oil clearance.

Plasti gauge is the shade tree way but it does work.

I think you have the wrong size bearings.
