Well it's been a while since ive made a shirt and the past 3 have been great success and i couldn't have done it w/out you guys here on this forum! Thanks again! So here's to the 4th shirt here's the design shown below. It's only hand drawn and then colored in w/ PrismaColor markers. The idea is to have a shadow casted image of a 914 w/ a guy leaning on the front fender and a blazing setting sun in the background. The design for the front will be located on the front right pocket area and the image for the back is gonna he about shoulder blade width. At this moment off the top of my head if the design receives enough interest i can have this shirts for >$20 shipped/each. As for color throw out your suggestions and bring on the critique.

I think you need to get rid of the "mullet" on the guy leaning against the car, maybe a profile of a baseball cap? Just my .02 Euro.

I like the idea...And it may be just me...I would not dream of sitting on my 914.
And the "Bowl" cut has to go.

I think its a good idea, but I would still knock the prick off my fender though.

Sep 25 2007, 12:15 PM
yeah i doubt imma have the guy on the fender, he distracts the entire image and blocks the 914. So there no prick on the fender

i was thinking last night and theme is going to be: "End of Summer". And i wanna throw in a palm tree into the image to bring in the California feel. And prolly put some more detail into the 914, white lines and such for the door seams, bumper, turn signal buckets, and maybe foglight grills.

I remember a photo ad for a porsche targa (911 or 914, dunno) that had a girl standing and/or sitting on the rollbar, that might be kinda cool.
Maybe design your own girl instead of the 'mudflap' girl, that just says bud-light and jacked up pickups to me, not really 914-esque.
And I'd like to see the sun smaller and a little higher, about where the top of it is now. more like the real size if you were looking at it.

I like the palm tree/sun/914 combo. No person as all though. The sun in the original looked odd. It works with the palm tree though. Orange with black print would be rad. I don't think I have an orange shirt. Maybe A darker green and light gray?

I like this one, but a few additions might be even better:
1. have a pair of legs sticking out from underneath the car with a pile of tool beside them.
1a. add a puddle of oil somewhere
1b. add a female figure with one hand oh her hip and the other with fuinger in air as if waving it angrily
2. have guy leaned against tree
2a. have girl leaned against tree
3. have guy sitting with back against tree and head drooped
3a. have guy against tree with head drooped, wearing a sombrero, and holding a bottle
3b same as 3a but with girl leaving in car with another guy.

And the original design. I looks like you bought it off of some crusty old car guy in the seventies.

well yea.. that way there's no douchebags sittin on your car

lol
OT: but how much does it actually cost to get a shirt made??
like if i gave you a picture to use? just curious? cuz i dont foresee a line of chalonwear coming out soon lmao
dlo914
Sep 26 2007, 01:14 AM
You can always get them custom made on these online places like: www.cafepress.com for one off items, but when it comes to large amounts, you have to include the cost of making the screen print which ranges from $25-$40, the cost of the shirts, and then cost of labor to print the shirts. The thing with the online places is they charge you the price of a shirt bought at retail store price and there's no profits to be made from those. And i prefer doing everything myself and contracting someone to make the shirts for cheap and making some profit, hehe, a broke college student just making some cash on the side

Yeah, I didnt really have a specific 'girl on rollbar' picture in mind, it's all up to your artistic interpretation. Maybe a girl leaning over the car on the right (picture) side, who knows.
I like the last one with the palm tree and 914 details, though I assume that was a trial thing, you're going to smooth out those lines later?
I also just remembered I have a bunch of sillouette pictures of women (that I gathered for a different project: see below), maybe nothing you can use directly, but use to put the babe in, send me a PM with your email and i'll send you a zip file of them if you want them.

Daniel,
I like the lines better than the solid black.

IMO, I think maybe you could make your logo smaller and put it on the lower corner of the 4 on 914. Where its at now, it looks like a broken part hanging from the car.

Still think you should offer the shirts with and without the option of the lady sillouete.

I second the eyes and the orange. Something kinda like this would look RAD. I think the orange will add to the sunset/silhouette theme.
Sorry for butchering your image. All I've got at work is paint. and I'm not even that good at that.

I softened and cleaned up most of the lines and took off the targa top for a fun in the sun image
