Only crunched the box twice, syncros are a wonderful thing. And this was after almost 1500 miles driving out from KY. Man, someone was looking out for me this weekend.

Snapped mine on Xmas eve in the 80's.
Drove from Long Island 60 miles to Manhattan and shifted less than 10 times.
But I cheated: it was 1 AM!

Anyway, right now I have replacement clutch and accelerator cables in my front trunk...Sorry, just one of those learning experiences.

I had to drive my first beetle for almost a week with a broken clutch cable once, I was 18 and didn't have any money until payday.
Fortunately my dad and an uncle were truck drivers, they never use the clutches in those things after 1st gear, so I already knew how to shift with no clutch. It gets dicey when you have to stop. I started it in 1st gear a few times.
