Due to circumstances I currently have 3 914s (not parts cars) and only two can fit in the garage. I've decided to store the latest, a 72, outside. With rainy weather coming soon, I'm trying to decide the best way to protect this one from the elements...at least until I decide what to do with it...I'm looking at maybe just cleaning it up as a driver and not restore it??

1) Buy a waterproof car cover (are these OK...will I have problems just leaving the cover on rain or shine)

2) Just replace any seals that may leak and let the rain drops fall as them may

3) Attach a tarp to the side of the house (temp carport) that doesn't rest on the car, but at least keep most of the direct rain off the car.

4) Thought about putting one of those car tents on the side of our driveway, but really don't want to due to the way they look??

Thanks,
Mark

If the paint isn't great on your '72 why not just stretch a tarp over it?

#3 is cheapest and should keep it pretty dry....

You could put a couple of those dry-z-air things inside too to collect excess moisture, just remember to emtpy them regularly

rand is right with the dry-z-air units, but they require regular maint. you have to empty the catch basin you will need. even with a tarp you can't just cover and forget it. mildew can form, happened to me last year. costco has inexspensive non-moisture proof soft covers and cheap polytarps (a 2 pack). if you go this route remember to let the the car 'air' during nice weather. "rainy weather"...you have no idea what "rainy weather" is. smile.gif

For peace of mind, go with the canopy.
