I have spent time on this and wonder what you guys think. I know a 205 60 wil work, looking for a little more.

Probably not, I have 205/55 on mine and then barely fit in the rear

205x50s will fit, 205x60s will fit.....so why would a slightly taller tire not fit?

205x65s have a slighly taller side wall. If your car is not extremely lowered then I don't see why they would not fit.

I am not completely sure of the fitment since I have never tried them, but it seems to me if your car is near stock ride height they should work.

a 205/65R15 is only the slightest height increase over the factory OE 185/70R15 fittment....

I've run 215/65/15 on stock wheels on mine since the late 80's with no problems. Had to finesse the rear fender lip a little but nothing serious. Running 205/65's on the front right now with no problems

why so tall?

Previously, an abundant supply, but I am dropping back to a 215/60 in the near future. If I recall right the overall height was nearly the same as that of the 165SR I took off at the time(1987). Amazing what 40 or 50 mm of tires and 10 degrees of initial timing make in these little cars. I've always thought Porsche would have sold a lot more of these with just these two changes.

Do you have a picture you could post? I would like to see the 205-65 on the frt and the 215-60 on the rear. Or and location on the car , just like to see.

205/65/15's here. it's what was on the car when we got it, no rubbing in the rear, at full lock the fronts rub very slightly on the inner fenderwell if I hit a bump (like pulling into my parking area) I can see a small spot up inside the fender worn through the undercoating

Ran them on a '74 with Fuchs .... no problem. Rolling diameter is the same as the stock tire.

I was concerned about the height and the tire rubbing the front of the front lower fender as you turn. I had 185 70 15's, years ago and it was the close, everywhere else was OK.
I am going with 205/65/15, They will fit the rims a little better then the 215's I will add pictures, when that happens.
