Its one of four transmissions I have. The other three are compete, all though I don't know what kind of shape they are in. This has been sitting as you see it on my workbench since I moved it off the moving truck. I tend not to just toss things away, but I have three other tranny's, an likely will go with a 915 anyway.
Junk?

You can never have too many parts right?

You can always gut it and use it for starting an engine out of the car.
I did that with an old case, to start up a unknown engine. I made a stand for it, with a bracket for a 914-6 oil tank, and it worked great.

Check the gears. You never know what you have. I had a 914/6 transmission that came with my first 914. I didn't know what it was until years later.

I agree with all three of the fellas above... Identify what ya have first. Keep all the good parts. Or use em for bartering. Synchros and dogs and such are very expensive.
And it's a great opportunity to learn how to identify and qualify tranny parts...
Use the factory manual and go learn sumpin...
