Very Nice Indeed... great attention to detail... some things not quite where I would put them or display them but very nice.
The 40 Grrr asking price is a little out of line IMHO.

I would expect steel flares on a 40k car.

For $40k it should have alot more (history) and a ho to go with it.

Those aren't "rain hats", they're just air cleaner tops for the POS K&Ns. It's inaccurate to call this "restored" It's rebuilt, and highly personalized. Fine, if you like it, but it's a long way from a restoration. "Restoration" is defined as a return to original condition, or perhaps even better (fit and finish). This car didn't come with much of what the seller thinks makes it worth the asking price. Need I list the stuff?
He'd be blown out of the water at a concours. The Cap'n

I like the flares... different than your run of the mill gt flares.
Of course Capn is correct... car is not restored, not even reconditioned... I would call it customized.

That's the microphone for the drive thru window.
Maybe it is an old style stalk mount EQ, the Mid 80's blaupunks were like that

This is a great example of a PERSONAL Porsche and for what it is, it's a truly beautiful machine. But the price is too high. F'rinst: Guy in my neighborhood's house is custom outfitted throughout to accomodate the fact that he's 6'4", just isn't gonna work in a buyer's market if you're 4'11". Maybe better: Graziano's championship belt woulda been worth more if he hadn't modified it by carving out all the jewels!
Forget my obtuse abstract analogies: The perfect buyer for this car is out there, hopefully the seller can connect!
Ted, I'd rather have your car properly restored!

I had a Triumph fitted with a map reading lamp on a flexible hose that looked like the item in question. Very useful at night if you had a passenger that could read maps. And you don't seem to get a GPS for the $40G.

This car may not suite everyone’s taste but I certainly works for me. I would not be a buyer at $40k but I see no harm in him asking. My guess is that if he is not in a hurry and exposes the car properly he will find a buyer at or near his price.

Hmmm,
Nicely done, but it's a POS fro a concours standpoint & that's the ONLY way it'll ever be able to recapture to bucks it costs. Just about everything is wrong.
It's a cruiser & nothing else. Nice one too, though the price is stupid.

I think it's a beautifully personalized 914-6, but without all the real guts you'd like to see today. A 2.2 is fine, but not a 3.2 or 3.6. Almost everything was done to make a nice cruiser, and it looks great (if you like the flares), but is just about worthless as far as $40K would take you.
Having said that, I hope he can get that for it, it only helps those with original, unmolested cars!

Uh, Ted, I see the following at the bottom of your posts:
"1970 914-6-Tangerine - Restoration to begin in 2008
Marital friction to commence at the same time"
Friction? Is that a euphemism???
You're gonna have NO friction if you keep looking at 914-6's!!!

Very nicely done car. For comparison here are a couple of shots of my 1970 914-6. About as stock as you can get. (Have both the original Fuchs with 185's and the polished fuchs with 205's) Has all of the original hard to find pieces, manual, foot rest, tool kit.

It was originally yellow although you have to get into the door panels to find out. Not a bit of yellow visible so the must have stripped it before painting.
I bought it in San Jose about 1 1/2 yeare ago. Previous owner had it for about 6-8 years. Not sure of history before that.

This is how the previous owner had it. I have debated about installing fog lights but have held off so far. The look is kind of growing on me.

I find it odd but, a lot of sixes came bare-bones. I've seen a few w/o fog lights.
Mine had lights but, no anti-sway bars. What a huge difference stock bars make.
