I've got one here with 33 but my car has 37+-1

If your talking 1971 914-4 rear stub axles, mine has 37 splines +/- 0. Is your 33 spine from a 69-71 911 or a 914-6?

Yeah. That's the problem. I don't know where it came from.

The axle splines are different on the 914-6 axles.

Complete 914-6 half shafts (complete with CV joints) used to be available and were a direct bolt in for 914-4 cars. I have some of both.

The splines on the 914-6 axles are the same as the splines on 911 axles.
The splines on the 914/4 axles are the same as the splines on some 944s.

I've counted alot of Porsche axle splines but none with more than 33. Maybe you miss counted, mark one spline and move something like an ice pick around a clean shaft to count them.
