Wondering why the previous owner has 2 fuel pumps on the car? One in front and one in engine bay.
Planning on taking to the local VW guy here in town to take a look at why it is running too rich. It has a adjustable gauge to adjust the fuel pressure and reads about 9 1/2 but turning the dial either way seems to do nothing. By now the plugs seem to be fouling out. It is a 2.7 and the main jet is a 145 and smaller 65.

A 2.7L what? 4 or 6 cy?

If it's carbed, your fuel pressure is about 5 lbs to high. which on most any carb will over-ride the float needle valve and cause the carb to continually leak.

3.5 to 4.5 psi max ...

Where is the fuel pressure measured? If between the pump and regulator you'll prolly see the 9.5 lbs. Between the regulator and carbs you should see the 3.5 ....

If you car is a '75 or above, the pump was in the front .... single in single out .... If earlier, pump had three tits and was mounted below battery tray assembly near heater duct.

So why two? ..... One is high pressure and disconnected and the low pressure pump was installed.

Also, the pump in front for an electric pump is more ideal as an electric pump is a "pusher" not a "sucker".

What's your regulator look like? If it's one of the cheapie dial regulators, throw it in a lake (or better yet, a trash can) and order a quality regulator from Summit.
