Full Version: Fuel Pump Relay?

Car is a 914-6 conversion, 2.4 w/MFI. The fuel pump is not getting power. I "hot-wired" for testing purposes and the pump works fine. It appears the circuit board (driver's side engine compartment, beside the oil tank) is forked.

So...question is: Can I just re-route the fuel pump wiring to a regular ole' generic 12v, 20A relay? Is a relay even necessary? Can't I just wire the pump to a fused circuit?

Thanks, that should help. The conversion was done by a previous owner and the jumper wire is already in place. For some reason, though, the "13" pin isn't getting 12v @ start-up.

My idea was to wire in a (generic) 12v, 20a relay and not waste any more time headbang.gif

However, the article clears up a few questions, so I think I'll go headbang.gif some more.

Update: Installed relay on a switched/fused circuit. All is well.
