5.5 inches versus 7J what does this mean ?

I think you need to explain more.
I'm guessing that you are referring to rims.
In that case the J stands for tubeless tire capability with the bead retaining ribs. The 5.5 and 7 would be the rim widths measured as inches.
So a 7Jx15 indicates 7" rim width, 15" rim diameter, and tubeless design.
