Consedering buying a 911 SC 3.0, owner says compression 155/165/165/165/165/170 and motor runs very strong. What do those numbers represent, if anything? I am looking to buy a strong and dependable car that will last.
thanks,

To me it means they are all within 10%.
And thats a good thing.
I wonder HOW he took the compression check...????????
As there is only one way to do it right that I know of.
I wonder what the leak down numbers are per cylinder? For me. That is a more important piece of data than a compression test.

It doesn't say, "Run away!" But it doens't say, "Buy it NOW!"
It says, "Let's keep talking..."
Man that engine talks a lot.

Is it common practice to have a leak down test on a car before buying and about how much would that cost ?

Since you live in Encino.
Try calling TRE in La and see what they quote you on a leak down test. They know the sixes pretty dam well.

A PPI should run anywhere from one to two billable hours at a shop.
