Full Version: how do i remove rubber engine surround

hi guys...just repainting the engine comaprtment
and don't want to make any mistakes ripping out the rubber
so what tricks might one employ to take it out without damage....

go slow, don't force it/rip it, a pry type bar/tool may help to remove.... other than that, maybe some dishwashing liquid to add some slipperiness

USe a small flat screwdriver and start at the end. Pry from the bottom edge to unhook it from the channel...then slowly keep prying it as you move towards the corner of the channel. Get the whole pieces bottom edge out then pull downwards to take the piece out. w00t.gif

also, the channel holding the seals is pinched in a few areas to prevent them from moving.
you need to un-pinch those first, otherwise the rubber will ripp ...
