While I am waiting on my Hayes manual and welding books I was looking around the car. What is this for?
It did not feel like it was attached to anything.

It looks like that wire is there to provide an "ignition" spark so your car can "burn" rubber (and everything else)!
Maybe the PO had a freakin' huge power amp up front? Does it run back to the battery?

Since your fuel gauge is not proper caliberated for the east coast the PO included that so you could check your fuel level.

Not a factory piece.
Guessing it went to an amp in the trunk. Remove it and plug the hole.

Goes to the anti theft fuel tank ignition circuit. Handy in a high crime area.

Maybe if someone trys to steal it the wire will set off a spark and just blow the whole car up.
