I finished my car about 4 years ago just in time for my 1st sons birth and WCC2004. Made some compromises in the name of $$ and just getting it done.
I had/have (bastard setup)
late model 914 lower control arms
Weltmeister sway bar
turbo tie rods
early 70's 911 struts
rebuilt 911 steel calipers (forgot what kind)
worn out adjustable konis (old style)
Weltmeister upper monoball strut bearing
22 mm sway away torsion bars
Aluminum cross bar

I just (still bastard setup)
pressed in longer studs (944 turbo) for my spacers, did not have enough threads
replaced lower ball joints (funny how I had found money for steel flares but too cheap to buy new ball joints 4 years ago)
added 80's 911 SC bilstein struts (not rebuilt or revalved yet)
C2 calipers (36 MM and 40 mm piston sizes) Slotted to 3.5
replaced original tie rod ends with bump stop heim type (I have bad bump steer)
added some old drilled rotors a friend gave me
replaced suspect looking steel braided brake lines with oem rubber ones.
new shiny steel nuts

These calipers/rotors fit under my fakie 8.5 x 15 fuchs

This is pretty much a trial thing. I hope to have more brake feel than I had with the old setup. Was effective but kinda all or nothing. I dont use a prop valve. I think the Bilsteins will be too stiff so they will probably need to be sent off to be rebuilt/revalved. Threw some old brake pads on to see if everything works. If it seems like it has potential then we will throw new pads, rotors, revalve shocks etc....
Gonna try do my own alignment with the string method now. Tired of paying $100 for crappy alignments!
Hey Paul (PRS) if you are reading this I owe you $100!
