I have a 1971 914/4. I also have a really nice Momo steering wheel. A guy sold me an adapter, which was said to fit a '70-'72 914, part # 0230. Turns out that it is for a 914/6 or an early 911 and doesn't fit my car. Momo also has an adapter for a '72-'76 914/4 part # 8002. Apparently they don't make an adapter for a '70-'71 914/4...

I can't find a Grant adapter for a '71 either.

I'm at the point that I am willing to cut up a factory steering wheel to make an adapter. Is this my only choice? Do I need to make sure to get a '71 factory steering wheel? Has anyone else put an aftermarket steering wheel on a '71?

Pelican shows the 0230 as the correct adapter for the '70 - ''71 cars.

Are you sure nobody swapped your column for a later model?

It is my belief that it is only the way the horn is activated (between the early and late years) and possibly the turn signal canceling tab .... splining should be the same.

I could be wrong ...............

The 0230 adapter will fit on the splines, and the nut will go on about halfway. There is a 2" gap between the cancelling tab on the adapter and the cancelling mechanism in the column. I'll snap some pics when I get home.

From what I can tell, a lot of people are advertising the 0230 for the '70-'71 cars. It is for the early 911, and the 914/6, which AFAIK uses basically the same column as the 911.

I finally found a reference to Momo # 8000 for the '70-'71 /4 cars, but it is discontinued. # 8002 is for the '72-'76 cars.
