Just wondering if anyone has any good guesses.

I would guess there are maybe 500 left in the U.S.

there's a 914-6 listed now for sale where the owner says 1100 left. not sure where he got that number, was probably just his guess. I say more than 500, but not 1000.

I bet there is more than a 1000 as they were expensive when first new and owners took care of them unlike the 914's. Since they have been rare for years people have restored/repaired 'em too unlike rusty 914's which people junk.

My subjective guess is that around 1000 likely still exist. But if you wanted to do a slightly more scientific study you could visit the 914-6 Registry and count all the cars registered there. Their webpage is http://www.stazak.com/914reg/.

That would tell you how many 914-6 were registered, and thus existing as of a few years ago. Of course more 914-6 will exist than the 914-6s registered on that site but you will know at minimum how many 914-6 exist. Other regional or national pca webpages can help augment that data with their own members lists, which typically indicate what sort of cars their membership is driving.

But my basic matrix (totally unsubstantiated SWAG) is to take the 914-6 registry number and muliply it by about 1.5 and that should give you a rough idea of the number of cars out there.

Someone should contact Larry Lee maybe he has a better idea of the remaining sixers. He probably gets asked that question every day.

But I have to ask...Who can be the first to post which factory FOUR cylinder cars are WAY more rare than any factory six?

Geoff be quiet...you are DQ'd...
vortrex
hah, you and your LE's...
Bleyseng
Ok, How about this....When was the last six made?

Vman you're too quick...

I have always liked the color scheme Brad et al selected for thisn here website...

I also never noticed the front spoiler on the last six...it looks like an LE spoiler for a flared car....
Bleyseng
Yeah, it looks good with the big bumpers but that's what you can get if you work at the factory! I wonder what happened to that car? confused24.gif
