so what usually happens with food at these things?

I know of a guy who caters BBQs. good ol pulled pork BBQ, chicken, sides,
and whatnot. He prepares it on site. Usually does large parties/bbqs of about
200 people. sound good? I hear he is "reasonable" for pricing.
and it is soooooo good (if you're not a vegetarian).

As far as beverages... we have 2 excellent local breweries. So we can get
some good local brew. Is this a big drinking crowd? or not-so-much?
of course we'll have plenty of non-alcoholic beverages.

BBQ catering sounds great! And yes this is DEFINITELY a drinking crowd. beerchug.gif biggrin.gif beer3.gif piratenanner.gif beer.gif drunk.gif yellowsleep[1].gif

Last year Zymurgist brewed up a couple of batches as well. His 2, 1/4 kegs, were gone in the first hour or so. They were excellent and now is a great time to enlist him.

Ken (Zymirgist) has pledged another keg of homebrew. Woohoo.

So what kind of brew do y'all want? I was thinking another pale ale, as that seemed to go over well last year... I will have to brew in the next few weeks if it's a pale ale because I like to age it for a while with some fresh hops (dry-hop in secondary for those who brew).

Other thoughts would be a beer that I have already brewed... I have a Belgian Saison (risky as I've only ever done one and haven't even tapped it yet), Oatmeal Stout (I have one of these aging now also). There's a less hoppy pale ale also, but I was already planning on bringing that to Matt's get-together in Frederick if that happens.

That's about all I have in the pipeline, but I'm thinking of picking up some grain on Thursday for a brew session this weekend.

Suggestions, recipe, etc. are welcome! beer3.gif

The Pale Ale last year was tremendous! I'm also a fan of stouts, that gets my vote.

OK, here's the skinny on the homebrew. I'm planning on bringing a fresh keg of pale ale (I'll only take a few samples from it beforehand, you know, quality control). It will go into the secondary today, to sit on some dry hops for a few weeks before kegging, becaue you just don't get that floral hoppy aroma without dry hopping.

Keep in mind this is a 5 gallon Coca-Cola keg, not the usual Sankey 15 gallon half keg you normally see at parties. 5 gallons is equivalent to a case of 12 ounce bottles.

I'll plan on bringing a cooler full of iced sodas, as last year.
