After more than 3 and a half year of grinding and welding my 914-6 is back from paint.
More than 200 pics during the restoration you can find here
The discriptions are almost in German but the pics says more than thousand words.

Nice man - looks like we are both pretty close to the same stage of re-assembly. I also know now that zuruck means back and weiter means forward. I look forward to seeing it completed. Its gonna be one hell of a car. Take it easy...

You are a "little" bit further. Nice work, I wish I was at the same stage.

Beautiful and very thorough as far as I can see.
Just curious why the stock front sway bar? You aren't keeping her stock as the brake modifications aren't.
Are you keeping those BBS's or going a different with the wheels?

The stock sway bar was the one I had stored for many years, so I take this and many other parts.
I will take the BBS in the first step, later I think I will take Fuchs rims.

I used to work at a bodyshop that did some full custom show quality cars. We would usually paint the outside once before the final paint to make sure that everything really was perfect before the final paint. We'd use some leftover paint if we could, but we'd try to pick a color that was closer to the final color. This may have been what they had in mind.

Those look like oil lines and that looks like a thermostat. My guess is that he's running a GT style front oil cooler ... Andy

wow wilco
congratulations !!!!!
You make me really sad. I'm so much behind my initial time schedule concerning the resto of my car.
It's still on your rotisserie, waiting for the undercarriage paintjob
On the other hand it's a great motivation to see that your car is nearly finished
viele luftgekühlte Grüße aus Berlin !!
