Driving and throttle stuck open. Throttle cable at pedal has slack. Has felt like binding lately. How is the cable routed from pedal to engine? Cannot see it under car, nor from above. How do I access to see where it is bound??? WTF.gif

Throttle cable goes thru the tunnel between the seats.

Thanks. How do I access it? From top?

Problem may be in the engine compartment. Carbs or fuel injection? Carbs tend to have lots of linkage that can snag on something. Disconnect the cable in the engine bay and see if the throttle returns to idle.

Fuel injection

To remove....disconnect in the engine bay. If it's broken you can pull that part out. There is a solid end piece that connects/attaches at the pedal cluster.

You might want to get one of the many 914 aftermarket fix it manuals that are available online....when in doubt, RTFM.... blink.gif

RTFM= Read The Friggin Manual..... laugh.gif

Ones by Haynes or Clymer are two that are popular.

The 2.0 throttle lever can also catch on the seam of the 2.0 air cleaner's intake "snorkel". Gets very exciting... Some 2.0 snorkels have a small section of the seam cut back to make sure there's room for the throttle lever.

Plan some time to check out the petal cluster. It could also be the problem. If the bolts aren't too hard to pull out, then cleaning the whole unit up with new bushings will be rewarding in everday driving.
