i'm not sure what O rings i need.
i know one end has 8 black but the other

the pet cd.
engine is a 73 1.7

also, i read the tech article on 914fan.net
about doing this job while the engine is in the car.
has anyone done this?
TheCabinetmaker
yes, it can be done in the car. Not sure about the color.

I did mine with the motor out. The top ones are green, but I don’t know if they are considered to be the best. Do a search for “pushrod tubes” and see what Jake and Brad say. I think it is something like Vitron? "V" something any way. Jake gives a good explanation in that thread. I will try to find it and post something useful.

The top ones should be green. I did mine while the engine was in the car, it was actually pretty easy.

Hello,

The green ones are viton and are usually considered to be the best. They seem to last the longest, although they all work. It is easily do-able in the car. Make sure you lube them before inserting the tubes.

For a 73 1.7 you should use the green ones which are the better quality. We use the green on the head and the case side!
