I noticed today that my car has started backfiring when I'm slowing down for a light or stop sign. It use to do it only when it was cold but has started doing it even after an hour of spirited driving.

Too rich?

Floats?

Idle jets?

Most of the time, exhaust leak......couple of ways to check. I like jacking up the rear a bit, wetting my hand and passing it under the exhaust.

When you feel a change you located the leak....you can also look for black marks on clean silver metal.....
