Ok..... heres the situation. I'm about to put a new clutch in my 1974 914-1.8 Does any one know if I have to use the Porsche clutch or is there a VW substitute that i can use?
Please help.

I once read somewhee that you could use a 215 mm Sachs clutch. They made 'em for both VWs and Porsches I think.

the -6 and -4 clutches will both work. like so many of the porsche parts, the details differ.
the -6 clutch has 6 springs that are supposed to help smooth out chatter and uptake.
the -4 clutch only has 4 springs and reportedly a less smooth uptake.

They're $65.00 at Pelican Parts. That's a pretty cheap clutch. It is the same as a '74 & up bus clutch, same money too.
