would it be harder to fit into a 9eleben than a 914 ???
not that i have ever put a 3.6 in a early 911, but exactly why is it so difficult?
putting a 3.6 in a 914 is more work than a 3.2 or smaller, but not worth another $5k.
implying that a 3.6 conversion into a /4 will cost you about $10k (including the engine) ...
maybe. the 914 engine room is a lot wider than an early 911.
why is it difficult ? i donno - i've heard the case changes at the 3,4-l point don't fit early motor mounts. might be easy enough to just fabricate the mount you need for a car that has none - ripping out and modifying something already there could well be harder.
obviously, i don't know, because i haven't done it - if i had, i -still- wouldn't be in the market, 'cause i'd have the one i did :-) ...
but here's what it says in the ad: " Anyone who has researched the details of converting a late model motor to an early car knows that it is a HUGE job and requires extensive creative fabrication and modification. ... 3. Engine mount console set-up to fit early motor compartments. 4. All engine surround tin is modified to match late engine with early motor compartments. 5. Custom Throttle linkeage... hooks right up to factory throttle rods, eliminating need to buy and install a $400.00 throtle cable. 6. Modified oil suction pipe hooks right up to factory "s" hose. 7. Custom oil scavenge pipe with AN-16 fitting. "
i'm not sure the point you're making about a $5k premium over a 3,2 or how that adds up to a $10k 3,6 914.4 conversion ... i think if you can sell 3,6-liter 914.4 conversions for $10k you'll have to beat business away with a stick, but again - i donno ...
