last thurs while waiting for craig to show up i was making a minor adj with the idle air mixture screws. i looked up and smoke (oil) was pumping out the exhaust outlet. the outlet has a slight lip and there was a puddle in the pipe with the overflow dripping on the driveway. no odd noises. a quick run down the block and is was like a mosquito fogger under throttle. no appreciable lack of power. drove straight into the garage and shut it down. now the oil level was about 1/2 of a quart low. i was fuming!, worse than the car was.

"f-it! i'm done with these pieces of crap cars!". not the month before, not the week before, THE DAY OF!! i could'nt even turn on the computer as it would have resulted in the posting of a FS posting in the cars and rollers in the classifieds.

sat on the deck, contemplated my sports car future and went to my zen place. "well...this could have happened on the other side of the mountains, in the middle of nowhere, 130 miles from home, in 100*+ heat". like my signature reads, everything happens for a reason... SERENITY NOW!!!!

here is this weeks project. known runner with good numbers.

Do a leak down test and see whats up with the old oily motor first, just to see whats going on with it.

You have had a string of bad luck so maybe its finally over!

I feel your pain Kevin Dang wighner At least it didn't break down twice in a 24 hour period. While you were on the drives . Still a great time! Sorry you had car issues though. It does suck when it happens no doubt! Catch you later & thanks for al your help organizing this years event

Glad you took a breath and counted to 10 before posting .

What's the history of the motor? With smoke at idle and under acceleration, I can't think of much else besides blow by on the ring(s). If it was all of a sudden, it'd be weird to just bust a ring though...

i'll pull the plugs and see how many are oiled up before preceeding with the engine removal.

I couldn't imagine the 914 community without the Rhodyguy. Glad to hear you're more relaxed about it. Let us all know if you want any help. Should make for a good Teener Tuesday
