Am I wrong in saying that 914 a- arms and some years of 911 use the same a- arms and are the same parts just on different cars?

I am selling some and want to make sure I don't lie to people biggrin.gif

The 914 and 911 A arms are physically interchangeable. They are not identical. the 914 A arms use a different number of splines (I don't remember how many on each) from a 911 A arm. There are more torsion bar choices when using a 911 A arm.

ah I see --- so we can use the 911 on our teeners but for a 911 to use ours would potencially a step back for them

You got it... I still run 914 a-arms on my six. I had them, and there was nothing wrong with them, so I just bought the torsion bars I wanted. They are available, just slightly less of a selection.

I personally like 914 A-Arms on 914's as I think the spring rate is perfect. Make your front end fun with Sway bars and shocks.

Porsche obviously thought so too as they designed a special 914 size bar for the 914-6 that would fit in the 911 A-arm the six uses. I never could understand the logic of this until I saw a front end being installed in a factory DVD. It is installed as one piece. Probably easier to spec. or source that way. They still could have use the 914 A-arm and used the 911 struts... wacko.gif
