Full Version: Fuel pressure...doesn't seem like it's enough?

My 75 has the fuel pump in the front trunk with a carb fuel pump ( I think faucet)...anyway, I had placed an adjustable regulator on my carbed V-8 thinking I would need to bump the pressure down. The Eldebrock carb suggests 5lbs of pressure. My pump is only cranking out 2.5 lbs with no regulation. Is that enough pressure or do I need to address the issue? If so, do you think I have a pinched line or just a cheap pump?

Thanks ahead of time...

nope, step up to a real fuel pump.

What do you consider a real pump...or price range?

go to jeggs or summit and they have good street pumps for under $100.

do check for a fuel line kink. but those facet pumps wont run a healthy v8, it'll run you dry on any good foot to the floor run. they work ok as a helper pumb or crutch. or on happy11.gif a little 2.0L vw motor

one more thing... you should wire it up so the oil pressure sender/swiwtch will shut the fuel pump down if you loose oil pressure. this can save your car from fire in an accident.
