This is for a pull out knob/switch on the right of the steering column.....it has three wires going to it.
Upon removal of the switch, it started to spark against the dash. How did the body become "hot"
thanks,
Mike

Green pullout knob is typically the rear defroster knob.

according to the 914 Tech Tips book that I have, it's for the Defroster.
"Switch configuration on the passenger's side dash face to the Right of the
steering column, left to right, is as following:
Defrost switch (optional), cigar lighter, and on 70-71 models only, wiper switch.
70-72 models used a green foglight switch bezel, while 73-76 used a yellow one".

The car does not have a defrost element on the rear window.....who knows what it is wired to, but it's not done correctly or the switch failed internally causing the hot to ground to the chassis.
