I need to refinish the chrome area around the radio face plate, a bit worn on the
one I have. Any one suggest a good paint or product to use?
Thanks,
Tod

Might be the face plate for the dealer installed tunes....

Yup...that's part of the radio....not a factory item.

Was there an "official" radio option. I thought that all the radios were dealer installed, and various radios were used.
My old 914 2.0 had that same radio faceplate if I remember correctly. It was plastic and had the AM/FM slider as the one pictured.

Huh, never seen that piece before...
I have never really had good luck with chrome paint on plastic. That being said, I think the key to getting this to turn out right would be to sand down carefully with a very fine sand paper and use a good plastic primer before painting.

Was reading through the Bret Johnson book. Page 66 shows a simular
face plate on a Blaupunkt. Also annotates the factory installed the Wolfsburg,
Emden, and Hannover cassette models.
I picked up some duplicolor chrome paint. I'll test it on something to see
if it doesn't peel. Have a spare plate so no loss either way. Couldn't find
anything specific to plastic, for paints on the net. Testors model paint maybe?

I have seen a simular plate before, one was for sale here or at NARP. But sence there is no part number, how much do you want to spend? You could have it re-chromed.
Not quite but close...
