I think you're missing the point. The donor car from which this radiator expansion tank was taken only had just over 87,000 miles on it! It's practically a new radiator expansion tank!!!

This auction ought to really take off! This is one of the last items I am looking for to complete my '73. I have been looking for that damn radiator expansion tank for several years. AA and Pelican say is is NLA so I sure hope I have first dibs on this one! I'm sure Pat Garvey will be in on this one also!

Does anyone know if the 68 model used the same expansion tank as the '73 2.0? I do have the metal halide screws to intall it, but I am also missing the bracket. Maybe I will contact the seller to see if I can get the bracket also.

Sorry, but the '68 radiator expansion tank only fits the even-production-year 914s. The odd-production-year radiator expansion tanks are more squarish, with a round finish and have a snub-nose with an extended point. You'd probably be better off with an early VW Bug Radiator Expansion Kit, that was a factory option on the early VWs.

I think this would make a great award for the next rally. It needs to be properly mounted with a label, identifing the uniqueness of the part.

That's not an expansion tank.

It's the oil tank to lubricate the radiator cams.

I think his 100% positive feedback is in danger.
