My engine is all apart and I can't remember if the distributor rotor turns CW or CCW. I know the crank turns CW if your looking at the fan, but I can't remember if the disty rotor is also CW. Unfortunately I came up empty in Haynes and the search function.

When all else fails, look at the arrow on the side of the distributor .......................

Here's an easy way to tell, for dizzies that have some mechanical advance... Grab the rotor and gently try to turn it. It won't go backward, but it'll go in the direction of rotation a few degrees.*
(Some 911 dizzies rotate CCW, and newer ones don't have any mechanical advance)
________
* If you -can- turn it both directions, your centrifugal advance springs are whack and now you know your engine won't hold idle...
