Here's the info.
6 cyl. 2 litre engine, 110 HP, top speed 220 km/h. Designed by Albrecht Graf Goertz for the VW-Porsche project. This one remained a prototype, but eventually 3.332 914s were built with a six-cyl. engine.

This prototype can be seen at the Deutsches Automuseum in Langenburg and was donated to the museum by Goertz himself in 1994

Looks like a 914 and Saab Sonnet cross pollinated.

Just to be clear on this, the factory had nothing to do with this car.

Neither of these above are prototypes...just custom one-offs by custom designers. Attempting to improve on the production 914 goes way back...\

PS these two are not 914 prototypes either...but they are fun to check out. biggrin.gif

This second one was to be a Corvette wasn't it?
Sleepin
The second one was a Brazilian VW if I am not mistaken.

Not Brazilian, a mid-engine, rotary power Corvette prototype, hacked onto a 914 chassis. The million dollar XP978GT from 1973. Details are on my website.
