working on 1974 car. passenger seat belt keeps sticking so it only wants to pull out an inch at a time. passengers are getting frustrated.
do i need to replace or is there a fix. many thanks.

remove the backpad, then pull the seatbelt out all of the way, then lube the pivot at each end with the penetrant that turns to a light grease and work the belt. It will be just fine again.

To add.
After you pull the belt all the way out, before you add grease.
Blow the housing out with air/shop vac it...its full of years of dust and dirt.

After many tries, I figured out a method for tightening the factory seat belt springs. It would be difficult to explain and takes a wee bit of luck to prevent the spring from flying everywhere. The belt material can't be too old and crispy. I can rewind yours for a reasonable cost. PM if interested.
