Hey guys,

I just bought a 71 914 with a 327 Chevy V8 in it. The guy who sold it to me said he swapped the front end with a 911 front end for the bigger brakes. I'm not sure if he swapped the master cylinder from the 911 also. Actually I'm not even sure if the 911 master cylinder will fit. How do I tell if he did and will it really make a difference? I'm relatively new to 914's so if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

The standard 914/4 MC is a 17mm while the 914/6 and 911 use a 19mm MC.
To check, you need to pull the MC out of the pedal cluster to see the number cast into it.
The 911 calipers (also used on the 914/6) require the larger MC.
