For one tow just rent a dolly or trailer. If you ever intend to tow it regularly get one of David Lee's brackets at http://www.rennenmetal.com/products.asp?cat=2 and a cheap VW tow bar. Really good stuff, you'll hear from a lot of members here how well they work.
When I bought the car it had the tow bar kit on it, I cannot have the front air dam on with it mounted so I was going to take it off, then the car broke down. Now its never coming off it is a great investment. Definately recomend it, its by Reese Tow Power.

I used the tow bracket from the vendor section to tow my 71 all the way to Seattle and back (1800 miles round trip) with no problems. I got the version for the superbeetle bar which I bought at the local bug shop (much cheaper than the shipping from online retailers or ebay).
I even had an incident on the highway where I had to take evasive action and the car tracked perfectly behind. I cannot recommend more highly.
My basic membership gets 5 miles free WOW!! The other 20 miles to get it home from the AX cost $135. I understand that they have an upgrade policy that gets you 100 miles free........not sure the cost but prolly worth it. A very expensive fuel pump!!
