Hi,
I might get the chance to move to LA to work there for 5 years. Thanks to my company biggrin.gif

Now I'm thinking about bringing my 911 from Germany to California. It's a 1983 SC but with 3.2L in the back.
What do I have to be aware of regarding registration, what might get a problem?
-tax
-smog certificate
-anything else

Doesn't make any sense to let the cars sit in Germany for 5 years while I'm abroad. Might sell the 914 to get a 914-6 over there. But I'll keep the 911 and will take it back after the 5 years.

It would likely have to pass 1983 smog even if it was a grey market import. Since your car probably equipped with California emissions, it probably won't pass and be a messy fix.

That has been my experience anyway.
