When installing a 915 w/ WEVO side shift in a 914...Can the donor 911 stub axles and shafts be used? Do any mods need to be made?

Nana's_914, You'll need spacer/adapters because the 911 axles are shorter than the 914 axles. Check out the Classic thread forum titled How to convert to real 5-lug rears using 944 cv's and for even more info, get the Nov.08 Excellence and then decide. Good luck!

I would simply use the 911 stub axles and hubs and get the proper length 28 spline Sway-a-Way axles.

That's what I'm doing. No machining. No fuss. Paul turned me on to this a couple months back and this is what you'll find in his article in this issue of Excellence.

Adapters can be fine when using the 901 with 901 flanges etc. However, with a 915 and 911 stub axles... you're only a couple proper length axles away from D-O-N-E.

you can use 100mm 911 stub in your 914 hub.

check your 915 diff - if coarse, you can use your 914 axles, cv's, flanges, and stubs - done (so I'm told)

Also, if diff is coarse, and you have 25 spline 914-6 axles, you can use 100mm 911cv's ('75 - '84) on both ends (with your 911 stub), but the splined area on the axle needs to be widened a couple mm. I don't know how much stronger the 100 mm 911 cv's are vs. 94 mm 914, but they are available.

With the 911 stubs and wheel hubs (need to be 69-73 as i recall), you can use a pair of sportomatic flanges. They are longer, and make up about half the difference between 914 and 911 axle lengths, allowing the use of off the shelf 911 axles. I've been running this with my 914 tranny for a couple years.

All of this is good info but, we don't know what HP you're looking at.

You mentioned a 915 w/Wevo so I'm assuming you're running something through it that needs a 915 w/Wevo. That being the case, avoid 914 CV solutions.
