I have finally located a used wiring harness.

What do you all recommend to clean up the dirt and grime on it?

How do you clean and treat the connectors to ensure good electrical contact?

Is the fabric tape wrapped around it available or would split loom be better?

This is not a concours car, more of a track/weekend car.

I use Acme Klix88, which is about the same as DuPont PrepSol, a prepaint cleaner/grease remover. Then I remove the connectors and clean all the spade connectors. I solder any questionable connectors, and remove any brittle wires or PVC jacket and replace with new jacketing.

I bought black friction tape (cloth) at home depot when I redid my harness.It also can be found at some sporting goods stores.

Bottom line is that the friction tape Steve mentions above is probably what you want.

You mentioned this is not a concours car, but for anyone else reading this thread who may be looking for something closer to original Eastwood has this...

I also used "cloth" electrical tpe. I cut the 1" roll on a bandsaw to 1/2" wide to better match the original.

Great idea (cutting it in half with a bandsaw)!

But I'd save one or two wide ones to tape up the old hockey stick . . .

BTW, REALLY NICE work on your project!

I am 1/2 & 1/2 when it comes to CW. This is what I will be useing on my 74 project car. They have kevlar for high heat.

Hockey tape.

Was split loom material used in the 70s? It seems like an easier way to repair or
add to your wiring than wrapping.

Does anyone have a unique way of doing this? Maybe to make it look neater or better in some way?
