I have an old Mallory Unilite Distributor (I believe it's the YL advance if memory serves...) that I have cleaned up, lubed, and matched to the grey-grey advance curve of the new distributors (green/purple in my case) and locked at 16 degrees of total advance.

I flipped it upside down to fill the oiling hole with some oil and as I spun it I noticed the shaft moved up enough to allow the advance plate to lightly scrape the bottom of the Unilite mounting plate.

Is this normal? If not, should I shim the securing E-Clip inside with a bigger washer or add a small shim to the bottom of the distributor just above the drive gear?

Thanks.
