Is there any way to tell if the 4 bolt Fuchs on my car are real or knockoffs?

Yah, look on the back. Mine have "AE" stamped on them, which I presume stands for "American Eagle".

That's how I confirmed mine were fakes.

Real are forged reproductions are cast. Forged is stronger but after 30+ years of ham-handed garage mechanics using air torque wrenches they can be cracked between the openings and from the lug machining...

I had a 68 bug with a set of fuchs and I was told to look for 2L stamped on the inside of the wheel. My idiot friend wrecked it, I would kill to get those rims and tires back.

"2L" Whatever for? They only fit 2L cars? That one goes in the BS file. As for being cracked by the use of a torque wrench by "ham-handed garage mechanics", you're SUPPOSED to put 'em on with a torque wrench, the use of which will NEVER damage the wheels, unless maybe you're using it as a hammer.

I think he meant "impact gun" - which everyone (except every working mechanic in the world!) knows you should never use to put a wheel on a car.

They are commonly called the 2 litre fuchs or 4-spoke fuchs.
