I am looking to buy the dual weber carbs conversion kit from weber carbs direct and wanted to know which one i need to buy. I want the 40idf carbs but there are three different choices on the website

Which one out of the three choices do i buy?, i have a 1.8L engine in a 1972, but tone of the choices is for a 2.0L 73-76, do i just buy that one or one of the others? The other two choices are for 356's or 912's!

The new Weber are junk!! Ask Jake. I would buy EMPI version of the carbs.

The short intake manifolds shown in those kits leave a lot of torque unrealized...

I can't get onto the website you listed 904svo, i can't even register so i can't do any of the reading.

I was always told to not buy empi stuff, its supposed to be bad quality. If not those kits where should i buy from?

I have a single carb now and throttle response is horrible, if you stomp on the gas, the engine almost dies, you have to ease on the gas to get the car to not die. Coming out of corners isn't that much fun when you have to ease on the gas. Im not saying im flooring it out of corners, but it would be nice to hit the gas and actually go and not have the engine almost die.

Empi carbs but find a set of better manifolds. Empis manifolds are shit.Carbs worked great right out of the box though.

What does CS mean?

Also, it says to buy a dual weber 40idf or the empi kit so which one is it. If i buy the empi kit do i need new intakes, it seems like i will need that for the weber kit as well?

I think the last one on this page is the one i am going to buy. Looks like a good deal, lots cheaper than weber carbs for sure. Just making sure i get the correct kit.

CS refers to Jake's "Camper Special" engine kit/build for a VW Bus. You're obviously not building one of those. That thread is on Jake's sote and is a recommendation to an entirely different scenario, but your question is similar (but yet not the same).

The 47-7347 is the correct Empi kit for a 2.0 liter Type IV motor.

I take it the kit won't work for a 1.8L, will it, aren't the heads different making the intakes not fit correctly? Anyone know where to get dual carbs for a 1.8L?

I am going to pick up a 1.8 to start my build with from what I have read the 1.8 heads seem to be a better heads. well for my app atleast as I am going to get new seats valves and guides and do some port work. I will be using dellorto 45's prepared by http://www.aircooledengineering.com/ I already have the manifolds ported and coated you can probably call ace and get a carb from them..
