For those of you in and around Deutschland, read that the new Porsche museum is opening on Saturday, 31 January 2008. piratenanner.gif piratenanner.gif beerchug.gif

I may be idiotic enough to try and check it out the first day it is open to the public. blink.gif screwy.gif

If anyone is interested and going to be in the Stuttgart area give me a holler.

I wish I could be there.

I will visit it for sure
but definitely not on the 1st day, 1st week or 1st month biggrin.gif

I thought to visit it in summer - maybe with my teener driving.gif

Saw the construction last Summer while visiting the "smaller" version. That place is going to be Huge! Might even give the MB museum a run for "biggest museum" award! I was bummed it wasn't done on time..... for our visit. Still fun in the small version though.

At least the new museum will be a much shorter walk from the train!

Don't think it will beat the MB museum; the article I read has it only containing about 80 exhibits right now as opposed to the huge number by the MB museum. Still will be fun to visit and drool over though.

GUSTL, Give me a yell when you're down my way to see the museum.

Whens the Colonge anniversary happening? I'd do Cologne, the Museum will still be there after the anniversary meeting. Wish I had my car up and running for this event, maybe my luck will change.
DEC
Stephen,
the meeting is 22.-24.May, see attached PDF.
It was only a German Info on the German Club Site http://www.914-club.de/pages/termine_sonstige.html

Porsche made no announcement. Where did you get this information from.

I've read the same date in a german forum recently
but they wrote "very likely"
that's why I didn't post it yet - I wanted to be sure ...

I will be in Frankfurt in February from the 13th. to the 17th. I will have a rent a car. How far is it and it better to drive or take a train?

seems to be rather close ...

OK, to answer a slew of questions:

There was a short article in the Military R and R magazine that discussed the opening of the museum. It stated that the official opening was 28 Jan for a select few but then it would open to the public on 31 Jan.

Bob,
Take the train, it is a straight shot into the Stuttgart Bahnhof and I can pick you up, you just need to let me know when.

Wilco,
Thanks for the info; I will try to make it to this event but I will have just returned from my motorcycle trip up to John 'O Groats in the UK and back. I don't know that the boss (wife), will let me head out to carouse again! Although, I may get her to come with me biggrin.gif

Interesting that the museum saw fit to display what appears to be a /4. It's not even tucked away in a corner clap56.gif Jeez, does this mean that the factory acknowledges the 914 in all its configurations?
