How about an actual picture. If it weren't for the J hook it would look like the piece at the fender seam on the cowl. how long? how wide is the flat on the top ?

Yep about 8 or so inches long? Seam seal on front fender to body seal.....

I just installed this NOS engine lid welting on my car after the new paint.
Do you also have the shorter side pieces?
They are # 10 in the diagram above.

I believe that you are correct, because I wanted to replace that....the cross
section is very thin...it's too narrow and too tall for the fender beading at the
cowling, besides, I know what that is and where I have it stored...
The length of this is over a meter long.....

I am taking pictures after I charge the damn camera. I didn't know it wasn't
charged...pics to follow Andy....

....well here's the photo of the rubber in question...but I think
ericread is correct...on the grill edging....
