Full Version: Koni Red & Bilstein Gas Rear shock comparison

I just got these made up. I though everyone might like to see the comparison. The adjustable Koni Red has an aftermarket 100# spring. The Bilstein Gas has a stock 90# spring from AA (Thanks, George). The interesting part is the length comes out to be the same. It will be interesting to see the difference in rear height when mounted on the cars.

Those are pretty. Several years ago I changed out the original rear springs on my 76 914 and put in 100# Weltmeisters (bought from AA in Atlanta) on new Koni reds (available at that time). Welt claimed they were a replacement for stock springs. I was surprised at the increase in ride height. I don't know if the original springs had sagged over the years, but the difference was noticeable.
