My airplane project is hitting a snag. we installed a crank fire ignition with throttle bodies in place of the crappy electrics and carbs of a dehaviland gypsy queen air cooled 6 cylinder aircraft engine. The problem is we can't get the revs go high enough. Here is my question: Since the engine revolves backwards as compared to most engines could the crank fire ignition be retarding the timing as compared to advancing the timing? We haven't checked the timing yet. The throttle body guys says that their tb's are correct and we have checked the dimensions of the prop. We thought that we weren't getting enough air/ fuel to the jugs or that the prop was limiting the engine to rev fully but so far that has proven wrong. I don't know which brand of crank fire we are using. just thought I would pass this by you guys.
Thanks,
Buck
